Welcome to the "Gateway to the Delta", presented by the Batesville Rotary Club!
The author David L. Cohn famously said that the Mississippi Delta "begins in the lobby of the Peabody Hotel in Memphis and ends on Catfish Row in Vicksburg" and Southern Living calls the Mississippi Delta "a back road traveler's paradise". Well right in the middle of this "travels paradise" between the Peabody and Catfish Row lies the start of this year's Inaugural Gateway to the Delta Races!
This years 10-miler and 5k's will showcase Batesville's historic downtown, surrounding rolling hills and terrific proximity to Memphis, Tupelo, Oxford, Grenada and others. These and other factors promise to make this a great competitive race, training race and race that's even great for first-timers!
All 10 mile racers will enjoy a great course that begins and ends in beautiful Downtown Batesville and will take you through meandering streets shaded by old oaks and elms. After tackling a couple of our local "hills", you'll begin your fast descent back to the finish line.
The 5k racers will enjoy a similarly fast race through some of the old districts of Batesville, lined with historic homes and cheering local Panolians.
To congratulate all 10 mile race finishers, you'll receive an awesome hooded sweatshirt and high-quality finishers medal, while all 5k finishers will receive snazzy race t-shirt.
